Veniwal, scientifically known as a “Conscinium fcnestratum” is a tropical herb, popularly used in India and Sri Lanka in the Ayurvedic treatment of a variety of common ailments, so much so that it is seldom that one comes across a subject who has not used Veniwal as an ingredient in many Ayurvedic prescriptions used in the treatment of cuts and bruises, common flu, body aches, jaundice and body rashes.
Veniwal is known to contain a phenolic compound “Berberine” in abundance, Berberine reacts in human body as an anti-tetanus agent. Studies have revealed “Berberine” to react significantly in alleviating diabetic conditions and to resist microbial afflictions anti-oxidant reaction, it enhances the body’s natural strength to suppress oxidative stress due to hepatic damage.
